Outdoor meetings / nights out during Summer recess.

Due to popular demand we will be continuing to meet up on a Mopnday night through the summer recess. The idea is that we meet in the Citizens House car park and then decide where to go depending upon the light and the weather. 0060-0808-0306-2918_Photographer_Taking_Pictures_Clip_Art_clipart_imageDavid will continue to lead the nights and try and keep us in order, and hopefully members will suggest locations and types of photography that they want to visit or try.

The Year of the Sheep

Sunday saw Newcastle's celebrations of Chinese New Year and a few hardy souls from the club braved the miserable weather to soak up the sights.

Monday night is Studio Night.

Monday saw our first Studio portrait session at the club of the season and we welcomed a wonderful model for the night – Megan. She certainly proved how much better portraits look with a model who knows what shes doing and of course looks great.Chris McIlreavy 003

It was obvious by the reaction of some of our 'senior' members that they were enjoying the evening.

However I'm sure everyone learnt from the experience of using studio lights, softboxes, modifiers etc. and produced some great images of Megan. montage 2

Wildlife of the World – Exhibition in our area.

"People must feel that the natural world is important and valuable and beautiful and wonderful and an amazement and a pleasure." (David Attenborough)a_33

The photographs in this exhibition will celebrate the true wonder of wildlife, from all over the world. We want to display the amazing diversity of our planet's fauna and their unique adaptation to all our varied habitats. Photographic exhibitions of wildlife encourage people to make a personal commitment to help preserve our biosphere and its fauna.

"If there are 10 million different species on Earth, and the current extinction rate is just 0.01% per year, at least 10,000 species go extinct every year. The rapid loss of species we are seeing today is estimated by experts to be between 1000 and 10,000 times higher than the natural extinction rate." (WWF).

Your subject can be of any size within the frame, either groups or individual animals. We will accept images of animals in captivity, they are a valid comment on the status of wildlife today. Domesticated animals such as farm animals and pets will be excluded.

For your work to be selected you will need between 10 and 25 images. Your first step is to post three sample images on the Submit to Exhibit Page of this website for us to assess your work.

This is another wonderful FREE exhibition from 'The Photographic Angle'. It will be held from 11 – 15 February 2015, at Q4, Quorum Business Park, Benton Lane, NE12 8EZ.
